British Steel recruiting 45 new employees and increasing production at Skinningrove Special Profiles Rolling Mill

British Steel is taking on an additional 45 employees as it prepares to increase production at its Special Profiles Mill at Skinningrove.

The Special Profiles Mill at Skinningrove produces a wide range of hot rolled profiles which are used in the Mining, Construction Equipment, Material Handling and Shipbuilding sectors. Skinningrove enjoys integrated supply chains with two customers operating downstream manufacturing plants on British Steel Site at Skinningrove.

Recruitment has commenced; the first intake of new recruits will start in a few weeks and further intakes are planned over the coming 3 months.

The new roles provide a fantastic opportunity, with new recruits receiving extensive training and hands-on experience with a leading manufacturer. Skinningrove recently completed a £26m investment to create a new Service Centre which introduced advanced automated equipment to improve productivity and product quality.

Jason Webb, Plant Manager for the Skinningrove site, said: “This is great news, not just for British Steel but for the East Cleveland area as a whole. Being able to take on 45 new manufacturing employees is hugely exciting for us as a business, and it will be great to see the positive impact this will have on the wider community. Output is expected to increase during November and December.”
