British Steel is taking on an additional 44 employees as it prepares to increase production at its Teesside Beam Mill.

The company, which is the UK’s only manufacturer of large constructional steel sections, is upshifting in October and recently completed a £1.5-million summer maintenance programme.

Recruitment is already well underway, with the first intake already in training, and a further 3 intakes of new team members planned over the coming 3 months.

The new roles provide a fantastic opportunity, with new recruits receiving extensive training and hands-on experience with a leading manufacturer.

Lee Sotheby, Plant Manager for the Teesside site, said: “This is a really positive step forward, not just for British Steel but for the Teesside area as a whole.

“Being able to take on 44 new manufacturing team members is hugely exciting for us as a business and it’s great to see the positive impact this will have on the wider community.

“We can’t wait to be working on the new shift pattern and be doing more of what we do best – supplying quality steel products to our valued construction customers.”
