British Steel hosts annual Rail Technical Forum

The annual Rail Technical Forum was held at British Steel’s Scunthorpe site on Thursday (29 May).

The event brought together technical teams from across the business, allowing knowledge to be shared on research projects, product development, and topics from the wider rail industry.

The day was opened with a business and commercial update from Craig Harvey, Commercial Director for Rail, and included informative presentations throughout on subjects ranging from rail grinding to the lateral resistance of steel sleepers.

The event provides an invaluable opportunity for teams to collaborate outside of their normal working environment and was well received by all who attended.

Craig Harvey said: “It was fantastic to see the effort that had gone into the event, with some high quality presentations on some interesting and thought provoking topics.”

“Events like these are not only incredibly valuable for our internal teams, they are also beneficial for our customers, ensuring they receive some of the best service levels and rail technical knowledge in the industry.”
